Hi,

I've got a good experience of 4 years in java and have been on bench for sometime due to lack of projects in our organization. I am planning to switch over to some other company but thinking of the recession prevents me from taking any concrete step.

Is it the right time to make a switch or should I wait for some time. I am working in India and there are few good openings going on but the current market scenario scares me.

Please advice.

Thanks,
Ritu

Hi Ritu,
In these times, I'd suggest stick to it, unless they drop signs asking you to leave. or if you get an offer that is too good to risk letting go.
You can spend this time on professional certifications, or just chill out.

why dont you think like this?In the present situation companies hire people only if there is certain assignment for the people being hired. In the past they would recruit people though requirement is not much.
So if you jump to any other company in these times you will be safe(because they recruit only if requirement id there).

What others say about this?

Thanks

Well, how do you know? May be they are hiring because there is a project from AIG in pipeline. She joins the company and the project proposal drowns with AIG. This can leave her in the same situation as in the current company : being on the bench.Who knows?, may be even worse.
There is always a chance that the position on offer is a very stable one and is quite promising, then of course, she may want to go for it.However, she has to be judicious in her selection in these times.

Look for product based companies...they hire only when the position is vacant for example if some body left or got transferred ... Since it is their own product you will definitely get work from 1st day and there won't be bench concept

Thats' again depend on difference between bad Company and good Company.
Because I switched by job in recession few years ago and after joining I realized that company has just hired people based on projects in pipeline.
No need to say that, company is gone by now.
