Who know how to generate such toolbar at the left side of this java swing application?and what's more, how to set the backend image of jdesktopPane?

The toolbar is a custom component... probably built using buttons connected to Panels that are setVisible( true/false ) when the button is pressed...

As for setting the Icon of a JDesktop, here is some code that I have that does the same thing...

Here's a quick example of how to do the toolbar... it still needs a little work, but it shows generally how to do this...
