Hello, everybody!
How can I open a Swing application without using the command "SET DISPLAY = <IP-Address>" on Unix console? If I don't set this property, the application seems frozzen and don't show de GUI. Can anyone help me?

Nope... I'm not sure if there is a way to work around this... but it is not just a Java problem, I've had to do the same thing to get Oracle Forms applications to work on Unix. You could probably write a script ( or have your system admin write a script ) that would default the DISPLAY property to the "home" machine of the user or the machine the user is logged into, but if the user telnets to another machine they wouldn't get any output.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
