There a dozens of groups, if not more, that can help keep families off streets, everything from help with mortgages to shelters for families to religious groups offering help.

The guy did his engineering from IIT-Chennai and later a Mba from UCLA...From this article it looks like he was a millionaire some days back.He made good money by selling his home and by playing in stock markets....He must have traded in Futures and Options and must have incurred a big loss due to the market meltdown...
People run behind money and get addicted to a materialism and a comfortable sophisticated lifestyle.When bad luck strikes these people are not able to adapt to the bad times,get depressed and do such desperate things.

There may be more options than living on the street, although that option is better than murder of your own family :

1) Homeless shelters,
2) Moving to smaller, less expensive apartment,
3) Receiving unemployment, public assistance or taking any type of job whatever it paid. Having family members also take any jobs.
4) He had only been unemployed a few months; banks are not foreclosing so fast and he may have had more time. There may have been equity in the home if he sold it also.

I know it is devastating to fall from higher to lower place in life, but usually it is not permanent if temporary emergency measures like those above can be taken.


There is always, at all times, options to killing your family.

Yes. I psychologicly it also works the other way around. My ex-wife was thrown out of her appartment. Non of her so called friends nor her family would help her. She was happy as can be, when I told her to stay in the spare room for free, for a few weeks. This while she had nothing more then a suitcase of clothes and depts.

But you'd be surprised how harsh your friends and family can be when you're suddenly out on the street, and how threatening this can be when you do not know the sources to turn too. Even the salvation army, here then, is closed in the weekend and you have to make an appointment with them the next week.
