Hi,
I need to create a popup window without the title, minimize or maximize buttons, when I right click on a table within my application. The window will then contain a combo box where the user can make a selection.
the problem is I have tried using JWindow but I have had several problem with focus and looking at the Java bug report it is a known problem.
Is there another way of doing this? - I'm using Java 1.3
Thanks in advance
Phil

Phil, I don't believe that there is anyway to do this with your current JDK version without re-writing the way a Frame is drawn in JAVA or using JNI.
If you could move to JDK 1.4 possibly either the bug has been fixed or I know there is a method where you can turn decorations off of windows.
Sorry that I am the bearer of bad news. I hope someone corrects me?

you could search in the source code of open source projects that use such frames. JEdit, for example opens with a splash screen that has no frame decoration. JEdit uses uses 1.4 but I think it is backwards compatible to 1.3 (???). well, that's only an example. what I want to say: there is certainly code out there, free to access, that does what you want. just have to find it...

Hey,
I know this is a bit of an old post, but it may help people.
You can use a java.awt.Window to put up a window without a title bar, etc. You can still add JComponents, etc. to it. Note that you can't drag the window around or anything by default, so use judiciously.
We do this with our product's splash screen.
