MANNING PRESS RELEASE
=======================
Manning Publications announces the release of: Java 2 Micro Edition Greenwich, Connecticut - March 18, 2002
Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME) is a collection of APIs tailored for applications that run on many kinds of consumer electronics and mobile/wireless devices, including cell phones, pagers and PDAs. It provides the same portability and ease of development as Java 2 Standard Edition, but is designed for systems with limited memory and functionality
The new Manning book, Java 2 Micro Edition, is a developer's guide that teaches how to navigate the maze of wireless application design and implementation issues. The detailed code examples and a complete tutorial application will clarify J2ME development issues such as user interface creation, event handling, data storage, networking and input/output. In addition, this book places J2ME into a larger context by explaining design considerations when building software for resource-constrained devices and looking at competing and associated technologies in these devices.
The table of contents, sample chapters, and other parts of the book are available online at the publisher's website. Visitors may also join in an online discussion with the authors at www.manning.com/white.
About the Authors James White is Wireless Practice Manager at a St. Paul, Minnesota software application consulting firm. David Hemphill is a partner with another St. Paul, Minnesota consulting firm where he chairs the mobile and wireless practice. The authors are both contributors to publications and websites in the Java community. Both will be presenting at JavaOne 2002, followed by book signings and radio interviews
