Display problems with hr in labels

I have a JComboBox above a JLabel.
In the JLabel is a line (<html><body><hr width="300"></body></html> that visually divides the Combobox and the rest of the form.
The line is shown properly but when I open the combobox it hides a part of the line.
The problem is that after closing the combobox to its original size, the part of the line which was hidden is "lost".
I can get the complete line again when reloading the form.
So my question:
Is there any possibility to repaint the line without pack()ing/hid()ing and show()ing?
Or is there a better way to display a seperating line?
Thanks a lot, Martin.
