Hi,all.I am quite new to java GUI. Have some question about swing and awt.
To my understanding, swing is a new version of awt. Does that mean when developing an application, we should use the pure swing and no awt at all? Is that possible? What's the relationship between them in a real GUI development? Thanks in advance.

No, Swing is built on top of AWT, so there is a lot of overlap in the use of classes used when coding, however, you shouldn't mix AWT (heavyweight) and Swing (lightweight) components in the same GUI, otherwise you're going to have some layering problems. More information on this topic can be found here at The Swing Connection.
