I am not quite familiar with Java GUI. I wonder if I can make a GUI interface like MS Word where several frames(files) can be located inside a main frame(application). I tried to add a Jframe to the main Jframe, but that will not compile. Could somebody tell me how to achieve that? Thanks.

What you need is a JFrame as your main frame. Inside your JFrame you can put a JDesktopPane. On your JDesktopPane you can place JInternalFrames. This will give you an MDI (Multiple Document Interface) Application.
