I am gettin an exception as:
java.awt.AWTException:cannot open XIM
and at sun.awt.motif.X11InputMethod
This exception I get when I am running my Swings application on Debian linux1.1.
The same application when I am running on my Windows 2000 professional, there is no such exception.
what could be the reason...?
what is XIM and why is it going for motif...when I have not set any Look & Feel...?
I am using JDevloper to design my Application.
Thanks in advance,
regards,
Yogesh

It's probably not a problem with your program, but with the way either the JDK or something else on your Debian box is set up. It doesn't have anyhting to do with look and feel, it is just the JDK trying to set up native graphics stuff for your GUI program.

I did a search on Google and XIM is the "X Input Manager". I also did a search on the error message and there are also a few other people reporting seeing this error message, but I haven't found anything describing a solution yet.

Just out of curiosity, what type of hardware (desktop, PDA) are you using, and what version of Java?
