desktop pane should be used or not?  RSS feed

hi,
I want menubar to be displayed in all my screens in java applictaion.
For this should i use desktop pane and interenal frames ?
Actually i have read that its better to avoid internalframes as there
access area is limited to only desktop pane.
Any help will be appreciated.
