Sorry I have to repost this as a new topic. And I have put up a working example here. please copy and paste and then let me know where you find the
table cellEditor gets lost.

Ok, just in case anyone else would wondering the same thing, here is the
answer to my posted question:
The getCellEditor in JTable returns the cellEditor only when there is data
in the table and the cellEditor is being edited -- ie, getting the focus by
double click on the cell.
