Hello author,
I want to know what is future of java swing ? What is effect of SWT
(Software widget Toolkit) on swing? What are the new things that you would like to see in swing.
Few years ago Java swing was considered as a hot skill set but today I see very few job requiring swing skill set.

I would also be interested in seeing some discussion on this.
  • With the strong emphasis these days on all things "web-related", does it make sense to invest time in what is arguably a "fat client" framework?
  • Will the java desktop be a strong enough contender to garner development support to expand the market for client based applications written in java (with Swing as the UI framework)?
  • (on a bit of a tangent) will the upcoming Tiger release of Java (J2SE 1.5) have any impact on Swing?

  • Thanks
