Help! I have an emergency need for an example in which one operating system's windowing calls can't easily be ported to another system's calls. I don't need too much detail -- just enough to write a sentence or two. Thanks.

If you are expecting an example of a JAVA app that will run on one OS but not another becasue of it GUI components, then you are pretty much out of luck.

The language specs are the same because they are implemented by the JVM.

Apparently you couldn't put an image on a button with the AWT because images-on-buttons couldn't easily be implemented on a variety of operating systems. That's the kind of thing I'm looking for. Is my understanding of icons on buttons correct, or am I getting it all wrong?
