JFileChooser issue

I have a working copy of my project in one folder and a carbon copy in another. however it will not run due to some access issue with the FileChooser. Its and applet so why am i not surprised?

The standard answer is that unsigned applets can't access the local filesystem, while signed ones can request and be granted that permission. Have a look here for an idea of what you would need to do.
