JasperAssistant is a visual report designer for JasperReports, a popular open-source reporting engine. It is built on top of the Eclipse's plug-in architecture and its main goal is to help you create JasperReports report definition files through an intuitive graphical interface.
The latest 1.3.0 version adds the following features:
- The latest JasperReports 0.6.0 support. Most notable features added by this version of JasperReports are:
- Java package hierarchy change.
- A new JRRenderable interface that brings an enhanced image quality.
- A new XPath based XML data source contributed to JasperReports by the JasperAssistant Team.
- Integrated XML data source support. Reports can be filled and previewed using the data from
a xml document. (Eclipse 3.0)
- Horizontal/Vertical spacing actions.
- Align in band actions.
- Shortcuts support. Now shortcuts can be defined for every action exposed by JasperAssistant. (Eclipse 3.0)
- Added a new set of toolbars. All the alignment actions can be accessed directly from
the toolbar. The visibility and positioning of a toolbar is customizable. (Eclipse 3.0)
Other minor changes:
- Move up/Move down actions in the Outline View.
- Panning selection tool. Holding Space while dragging will pan the report page.
- Added cancel support to the preview generation dialog.
- Fixed the classpath problem that caused compilation errors in certain
project configurations when using scriptlets or external utility classes.
- Fixed a Query Wizard bug that prevented it from working in certain conditions with Oracle database.
