I want to make JTree that holds a DTD, which has a tree structure but also has a few other rules. Each node needs to be able to be differentiated as either being optional (?), zero to many(*), one to many(+) or just singular. Also there needs to be a way to say this node or that node. Each node would hold a different tag definition (for anyone familiar with dtds).

I think the cardinality(?,*,+) could be expressed easily enough with symbols or colors, I'm just not sure of an intuitive way to express the x or y versus x and y relationships in the tree.

I'm assuming someone has tackled this problem before (or something similiar).
