Is eclipse rcp a replacement for swt/jface or it is built on top of swt/jface?

Ok i just figured that it is another layer on top of swt. and that there is something called rcp lite that falls somewhere between swt and rcp.
I wonder with these kind of options what do people ultimately put to use
