Hello!

I need to build a GUI on a UNIX platform that will read a flat file which contains a list of about 300 files, and allow a user to scroll through that list of files and select 1 file for futher processing!

Does anyone know where i can find an example program that does this kind of processing pleaes?

Thanks very much!

followup thoughts/questions!

Would it be practical to use a JTable with a flat file and allow a user to update a particular field on a flat file record, using a JTable cell entry?......but guess that means we'd have to overwrite that flat file data everytime though right?

How about if we loaded the flat file into a Java collection, let the user update the collection via the JTable and then wrote the collection back out to a flat file?.....hmmmm....can a collection be written out to flat file and then be read back in as such?

Basically, i'm just trying to create a GUI that that will allow a user to scroll through a list of up to 300 files, select a file and submit a UNIX script using that file name, and the next time they run the GUI, they'l see a check mark next to the files they've already run!

Really appreciate any insights, suggestions or references, Thanks!

Ok looking good!

Using a serialized collection with the JTable and so far it's looking pretty good, now trying to figure out how to capture the screen changes!

I'll provide an update when i get that going!

Thanks!
