Hey Scott. I was wondering how much code do you have in your book that relates to the information you are talking about. Is it example driven with code and explination? Is it mainly theory? Could you break it down into a explanation to code ratio?

For example, you talk about threading in chapter 5. Since the sample chapter isn't up yet, how much actual working code do we see in 5?

Actually this is an extremely code driven book. There are parts where I get into theorectically discussion, but only when necessary. This isn't a design pattern or OO book per say. It is a "here are tools and frameworks" to make writing desktop application in Java Swing easier. In the threading chapter for instance there are 32 pages. My rough count has 13 pages of code and 7 screenshots. Since this book deals with desktop applications, I tried to have a good balance of screenshots to help explain the text and code. Providing you another example, the layout managers chapter has about 30+ examples and 35+ screenshots. So in summary, I think there is a good balance of descriptions, images, and code to walk readers through each chapters. Btw, the sample chapter should be up in a day or so with the full book available next week.
