Version 7.0a2 of Jess, the Rule Engine for the
Java Platform, was released today. Jess 7 (codename Charlemagne) adds to Jess an Eclipse-based
IDE, native XML rule-language support, a public Java API for creating rules, and a host of new rule-language features. In addition, there are dozens of engine enhancements that make Jess easier to use for nonprogrammers. More details about this release are available in the
release notes. Jess is available at no cost to universities and U.S. government agencies. Commercial licensing is also available.
