Version 7.0a2 of Jess, the Rule Engine for the Java Platform, was released today. Jess 7 (codename Charlemagne) adds to Jess an Eclipse-based IDE, native XML rule-language support, a public Java API for creating rules, and a host of new rule-language features. In addition, there are dozens of engine enhancements that make Jess easier to use for nonprogrammers. More details about this release are available in the release notes.

Jess is available at no cost to universities and U.S. government agencies. Commercial licensing is also available.

You can download a 30-day trial version of Jess 7.0a2 today!
