Dear All:

i am using JDK 1.5 on an XP.

I heavily use Unicode Characters for displaying Indian alphabets which show smoothly in JTextAreas and JTextfields.

However, when I tried to use the following for the JFrame Title, it doesnot work. THe Unicode I expect shows as White EMpty Boxes.

super(choose_encoding.get_scharfe_to_dvn("saMDi boDaka") + "/" + "Sandhi Bodhaka" );

where "choose_encoding.get_scharfe_to_dvn(......" is the static method that converts normal Ascii characters to their Unicode Equivalent in Indian Script.

Pls. tell me how I can get proper Unicode instead of Garbage boxes.

Thanks.

Chetan

Hi,

Welcome to JavaRanch!

I would guess that this is an operating-system dependent problem. Can the OS itself display these same Indian characters in the title-bar of a non-Java window?
