I want to change the backround color of the JComboBox display area. The area that is visible when the focus is not on the ComboBox. Not the drop down list just the textfield part of the combobox. The textfield display area is not editable (setEditable(false))

Any ideas would be appreiated. Thanks, Lisa

Try working on the editor component directly.

Should leave you with a reference the text field used by the combo box. Then you can change the background colour of this with setBackground().
