i want to ask
what is the default layout manager for Toolbar?

Tip: sometime the best way to get answers ti questions like that is to
look at the source code. If you downloaded the JDK from Sun, there should
be a file src.zip. Anyhowdy, In JToolBar's constructor I see:
And lower down in the file:
So I'd call the default layout manager a BoxLayout with benefits.
That propertyChange method is why, when you drag a tool bar from the top to
the side of the content pane, it flips orientation.
