Hi! I need to have a JTextArea that is resizable. I have it placed in a JScrollPane. I change the columns based on some business rules.

The resizing works great if I place it in BorderLayout.Center or in FlowLayout. However, if I place it in BoxLayout or other layouts it simply fills the size available.

Problem with the BoxLayout and FlowLayout is that the scrolling is really slow. I guess they refresh every time I move the scroll bar, where as the other layouts scroll much more quickly but are not respecting my column sizes.

Any help is appreciated.
