I am about to start a big project for my college senior exit. I am designing and implementing a GUI interface. I have been told that unless I can convice my sponsor to upgrade, I need to use 1.4. Is there anywhere that I can find a comparison of the pro's\con's of the two? If anyone can point me towards some resources, I would be grateful.

Thanks.

I moved to Java 1.5 before it was officially out and haven't thought of moving back. A lot of great new features that make development a lot easier (once you learn them). For an overview, check this link.

For me, the best additions include generics and the increased performance. Given that the SDK from Sun is free and it doesn't sound like you have any legacy code, what's holding you back?
