Im using JFrameBuilder, not sure if any of yous have used it. I have added a JTabbedPane and tried adding a button to one of the tabs. When I add the button it positions itself in the center and I have no freedom to move the button about to where i want it. Im obviously doing something really simple wrong. Any one any ideas.

Thank you for the query.

Can you add a button to the tab at all? I thought the idea of a tabbed pane is that you have writing or an icon on the tab, but any other components are put on the pane. In which case, you can't put a button on the tab.

You click on the tab, which brings that pane to the front and gives it the focus (is that the right terminology?), then you can put other components on the rest of the pane, presumably using any of the usual layout types (it has getLayout() and setLayout() methods).
