selecting multiple checkboxes of a tree without pressing CTRL

I want to select multiple checkboxes without pressing CTRL in a Tree.
checkboxes are attached as nodes in the tree.
I am attaching nodes in tree through JTree.setTreeCellRenderer().
I think as all of my checkboxes will be having the same name,i will not be able to check multiple CheckBoxes without CTRL.
Please tell how can i check multiple checkboxes in a tree without CTRL.
