Hi, could someone recommend an introduction to Java Swing or GUI's in Java. I've checked Amazon and some other places but I can't find any introduction books, or books for beginners. Could someone steer me in the right direction, thanks.

I tried The Definitive GUI to Java Swing by John Zukowski and Swing by Matthew Robinson and Pavel Vorobiev. Both got me nowhere, they are not written very well or organized so a swing beginner could learn from it. I skimmed a few more books and found them lacking as tutorials. Although now that I have a better grasp of swing, Swing Hacks is becoming useful and powerful.

I used the java tutorial and it is good, but I can't read what is essentially a book on a computer screen. I do better when I can sit back with a book. luckily you can buy it in book form. The cover price is too much like most computing books, but as usual amazon sells it for a fair price. The book I have is specifically for Java 1.4, I haven'r run into any issues using 1.5. Even though it is more or less the exact same information I got so much more out of it in book form, although a lot of important code is missing in the book, it is available on the CD or online.
