They are a competitor to book pool. Their pricing is as good or some times better than Book pool.

I like their customer service(and also because they are located in my backyard, dallas area).

They presently carry around 35000 technical titles.

They have poor "personal" customer service, the owner is very arrogant and is more concerned with his front door than having a customer for life.

I would take my business elsewhere. Try bookpool.com.

Unfortunately your display name is 'obviously fictitious', so we have to discount your post

My interaction with nerdbooks.com was entirely positive. The owner was professional and generous (He offered me a free t-shirt after I purchased a book).

Communication is always two way.If you want him to respond politely then you should also talk to him in descent manner.

That's ok, discount my post. I speak from experiencing the dark side of the owner. I understand it could have been a bad day for him, nonetheless, he could have had a professional approach than he did.

I am glad you all had had a great experience, and if you did, continue shopping there.

Nu Guy,

If you walk into our facility (it's technically our warehouse ... not a retail storefront) and you swing open our $4,000 leaded glass front door (that we installed in an attempt to create a nice environment for customers) allowing it to slam against the side glass, we are going to say something to you ... and it's probably not going to be much to your liking. You cannot go through life completely oblivious to your surroundings or to the property of others -- we, quite frankly, do not care if you're a "customer" when you demonstrate a lack of regard for our property. If, on the other hand, you walk into our facility and treat it with the care and respect that you "should", we're perfectly kind and polite. We spent over $170,000 remodeling our building, and while I don't expect you to care as much about it as I do, I / we will not tollerate you ruining it or damaging it.

As an aside, we profit very little from each book sale; our long-term health is dependent upon high volume and low profit margins. For example, we often profit by only .50 to $1.00 per book sold. We welcome local-to-Dallas customers into our facility to take advantage of the fact that we're "local" to them, but again, it's only with the understanding that those visiting our facility treat it with care & respect. We'll, of course, extend the same to you and your property.

The store has a great selection and great prices. Again, it is unfortunate that I picked a bad day to go there.

Continue to shop there.

I just feel I could've been approached in a better way.

Thanks.

Hello "Nu Guy"-

Welcome to JavaRanch.

On your way in you may have missed that we have a policy on screen names here at JavaRanch. Basically, it must consist of a first name, a space, and a last name, and not be obviously fictitious. Since yours does not conform with it, please take a moment to change it, which you can do right here.

Enjoy your time here.
