First, this thread belongs in the JavaRanch forum.

Second the thread was moved to the trash as it took a decidedly political turn.

Please delete only those posts which don't fulfill Javaranch's policies rather then moving it to trash can.

I hope it was not because of my saying that IPL profits should go to oil companies and that govt. here is imposing fuel tax.

I am sorry Ernest as i wrote it in wrong way.

I should have written like this.

Can we delete only those posts which don't fulfill Javaranch's policies rather then moving complete thread to trash can?

I apologize again if you get hurt.

ultimately, it's up to whatever the moderator feels like. sometimes, it's a major hassle to clean up a thread. you have posts that blatantly violate the rules. then you have the responses to those. then you have posts that make no sense without the original post, but aren't bad in and of themselves.

then you have posts that partially respond and are bad, but partially add new, valuable content.

sometimes the moderator only has 5 minutes while grabbing lunch at work, or they are about to go somewhere, and they don't have time to carefully comb through the whole thread, post by post, sentence by sentence.

and sometimes, they just don't want to.

I suppose if everyone here were paying something like a hundred bucks a month for access, it would be fair for a person to make a request like this.

But since everybody here is paying nothing, then, well, I guess you kinda get what you pay for.

As is, nobody gets paid. So if a thread has wandered off, and a moderator does not have the time to pick out posts, I appreciate that the moderator moves the whole thread to the trash rather than do nothing.

So I wanna say: "Thanks Moderator!"

I think that if I were to make some requests so that my posts will remain, I would direct my request to the folks that tend to foul the threads: "please stop fouling the threads! I was having fun!"

Ankur,

The cool thing about being the owner of the site is that I get to do anything I want! So, you might conclude that any words you see me use are acceptable.

But! Another great thing about being the owner of the site, is that I get to change my mind whenever I want.

So .... just to be clear ... I do not like the text messaging shortcuts. I do like "wanna", "sorta" and a lot of cowboy lingo. Yep. Durn tootin. Boy howdy. Ain't that the truth.

Remember: Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely is kinda neat.

I already had, with a comment that it is easier to trash threads than clean them. When the conversation turned to a discussion on taxes, the thread was doomed.

Unfortunately now that this conversation is here rather than in MD, my initial posts don't appear so helpful Maybe if the query had been made here in the first place I may have tried to restrain myself

I moved it back. Note that it was always my intention to move it back, but for a time this thread was more entertaining.

my apologies.

And then the flying monkeys attacked. My only defense was this tiny ad:
