I have a small swing application that starts off with a JDialog box where a user can set parameters, click a JButton, and then load a JFrame based on those parameters. There's some problem where the JFrame is loading but it appears locked.

I've tried loading the JFrame on startup concurrently with the loading of the JDialog using default parameters and it works. So, the frame will load except if invoked by the JButton action listenerer.

Since these are all pretty generic names/methods, does any one have a feel for what might be broken? The frame does load when the button is pushed but its locked and does not show any content. I'm working with others and our code involves ActionListener in the frame being loaded, so I'm guessing that's probably related.

Sounds like something (a thread) is blocking program execution. Is the dialog non–modal?

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
