Hi Chet and Guy,

I looked at your book on Amazon, and I have no doubt it will be a great read, however I didn't see anything specific to JavaFX. Does your book go into that technology?

Thanks!

Our book does not address anything specific to Java FX. Java FX was not public yet at the time of the writing and it is still undergoing many profound changes so we thought it would not be wise to put anything about it in the book.

That said, all of our techniques work with Java FX. Java FX even bundles some of our work. In fact our book, even though it focuses on Java 2D and Swing, can be used to developer cool UIs with any client technology: Flex, .NET, SWT, Java FX...

Even though Filthy Rich Clients pre-dated some of the JavaFX activity, a couple of Romain Guy's components (StackPanel layout component, and the InfiniteProgressPanel component) are in the JavaFX Script standard library. You can see the InfiniteProgressPanel in action within the context of a JavaFX Script application (the beginnings of a freebase.com browser) at http://jmentor.com/JavaFX/JFXfreebaseBrowser.jnlp

JRE 1.5 or later is required, and this is a Java Web Start (jnlp) link.

Thanks,
