Hey guys. I attended your Java U session this last year at Java One. Excellent material! I'm looking forward to picking up a copy of the book.

My questions:

What are your thoughts on the forthcoming Java FX stuff?

What things in your book will be useful to a Java FX developer?

Thanks,
Joshua Smith

Thanks

Java FX is very interesting in that it makes it easier to create UI and animations. However, the techniques explained in our book are still valid in Java FX. In fact, Java FX comes bundled with several of the classes we wrote and we explained in the book: the blending modes, the blur filters, the morphing, etc.

However, if you want to create your own effects, not provided by Java FX, you will need to understand how to write them and our book gives you all the information you need.

Last but not least, most of our techniques are not specific to Java or Swing. When we explain why and when to use animated transitions, this applies to any GUI toolkit.
