I am using a MediaTracker in my applet to fully load images before displaying them.

The images load fine, but when I try to change the browser's url there is often about a 25-30 second delay before the page is loaded. This only happens when I use a MediaTracker. (Presumably, the MediaTracker is causing the delay whilst it is in the process of loading the images or releasing its resources, etc.)

Q1. Is there an alternative to MediaTracker (Java 1.1)
Q2. If not, how can I stop MediaTracker from causing the delay when I change the browser's url?

Cheers,
James
