hello all
im new to swing and gui programming and im trying to get as much information and tips as i can
for example , if i like to build my application as :
tree in the right panel in the right and footer and header , also i like that the window vertical border between the
tree and the panel will be resistible .
what i choose what layers should i adopt ?

If I understand your post, the BorderLayout is fine.

anyFrame.setLayout( new BorderLayout() );
anyFrame.add( button1, BorderLayout.NORTH );
anyFrame.add( button2, BorderLayout.WEST );
anyFrame.add( button5, BorderLayout.CENTER );
anyFrame.add( button3, BorderLayout.EAST );
anyFrame.add( button4, BorderLayout.SOUTH );

Perhaps you want to use a JSplitPane somewhere in there. If you have time, please check out the tutorial on this here, and let me know whether this works. If not, you may wish to post an image of something similar to what you are trying to achieve. Best of luck.

Thanks allot i used them both , now i have another question
i like to be able to have something like eclipse GEF project
so i could be able have arrows and and cubes and stuff like you
have in your favorites case modeling tools .
do you have something like that in swing ?

I don't think that this is directly available in Swing, but that you may have to look elsewhere. There are some graphing libraries out there that may be what you are looking for, perhaps JGraph (google this).

yeah i saw jgraph cute lib does some one have other lib like that ?
