I tried to use the getText() of the JTextField to return the text typed in the the textfield but it is returning an empty String. The textfield is added to a Dialog box. Please I like to know why this is so, and what can I do?

Without seeing your code, there is no way to tell what is wrong.
How does a Dialog get executed in a servlet?
