i'm having trouble displaying a picture (png, size about 400x600px). i tried to display the picture within a label, that worked more or less but i guess it's not the way to do it. than i ran into the canvas widget. since then i've been trying to display the picture with the canvas, but i can't get it to work. my code looks as follows:

the image isn't drawn correctly, it's really messed up. an the canvas is very small as well, i want it to be the size of the image. later on i want to draw lines and stuff on the image with gc. has anyone an idea of how this could be done correctly?

kind regards
It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
