hello everybody,
I am new to the servlets. Can anybody tell me about the .properties files in the jsdkit2.1?what is the difference between the
jsdk and jswdk ?
and i am trying "jigsaw" also .when I start the server, 'jigsaw'from the command prompt it says http server running at port 8001 and jigadmin server at port 8009.But Every time i start or restart the server using the jigadmin tool it gives me a error that
"RemoteAccessException: Unable to contact the server at http://127.0.0.1:8009 after 3 tries" .
thanks in advance.
RB.

This might not be of much help to you...
My goal in development is to be as little of an admin as possible. I want to focus on computer science and software engineering, not how to make the O/S sing.
Instead of using the servlet runner stuff that comes with the JSDK (I don't know what JSWDK is, but it seems Sun's marketing people are changing the names of things every month or so) I use Apache and JRun. Both are free. Apache is the standard for web service and JRun might be the most popular servlet server. Both installed and ran easily. I don't have to mess with configuration files. I did tinker a little when I first got it going so that now both products serve stuff out of my work directory.
So this doesn't address any of your questions, but there is a slim chance you're willing to take a different path.
