I already ordered the O'Reilly book on Servlets; I hope I made a good buy... Has anybody here read it? I know it's supposed to be 'old' but what does that mean? Did servlets change much from Java 1.1 to Java 2? Is that a valid question?
Thanks.

Check my book reviews at www.javaranch.com/books.html.
I've read the book you bought. It is old. And I think it takes the long road to explaining stuff.

Thanks Paul. I should have checked there first
The main reasons that I ordered it "sight unseen" is that (1)it's published by O'Reilly and I have many of their books, and (2)it was recommended by William Brogden just the other day in Marcus' site...

O'Reilly's Java Servlet Programming book is a great place to start learning about servlets. As people have said, it is old- it covers servlet API 2.0.
I will stress, however, that the new Servlet API 2.2 includes many enhancements - i.e. differences. 29 new methods with 6 deprecated methods.
The author of O'Reilly's book, Jason Hunter, has his own web site too- http://www.servlets.com
So, the book is great- pick it up, but keep in mind that there are some differences in the new API.
"Did servlets change much from Java 1.1 to Java 2? Is that a valid question?"
to answer your question- no it is not valid as the servlet API is seperate than the core java API.
Good luck!
-oh yeah- Tony- congrats on passing the exam! Nice score!
