Have installed Tomcat 3.1 on win98 using:
host=localhost
port=8080
I have the following problem when install Tomcat on NT. local host is already being used.
I want to install Tomcat 3.1.
But, I already have the following defined:
host=localhost
port=8080
What files do I need to change so I can run Tomcat with:
host=tomcat
port=9090
Have I missed anything...
TIA

I'm puzzled by "localhost is already being used". I can understand one or more ports on localhost already being used, but localhost is just a symbolic name for the machine you are running on. Even NT doesn't grab all the ports.
Have you tried localhost with a different port (say 24761) which is really unlikely to be used by any other software?

dont understand 'local host is being used', but have you tried using your machine name instead (right click on Network Neighbourhood, and choose Properties, and the string you want is the Computer Name), so that the URL become http://<computer_name>:<port>/<webapp>.
If it's the port number that's giving you grief, you can amend that in the tomcat.properties file.
Good luck!

My NT server appears to have an apache web server on it..
The server is using localhost with 127.0.0.1
I think it is one of the network thing that i do not have authority to change...
Thanks for your advice...
I will give it one last try.
I give up...
I develop with my win98 laptop.
I think the apache server is my web server.
- i hate to give up ...
