What is the difference between Apache's Jserv and Tomcat ? As far as I know Tomcat supports JSP 1.1 and has to be installed together with Apache webserver for JSPs deployment and execution. Then what is Apache JServ?

JServe is the older project that Apache supported before Tomcat.
A lot of people who don't need the latest APIs still use it because it is reliable. As far as I know, there are no plans to upgrade JServe to the latest APIs.
