Hi,
I have problem in tomcat installation. I did the following steps before seeing the default page.
1.My os is windows 98
2.I have jdk version 1.1.8.
3.Downloaded Apache server(apache_1_3_12_win32), able to see default page by typing http://locahost in browser after starting apache.
4.Downloaded tomcat version 3.2.1
5.In autoexec.bat I gave the following setting instructions:
setjava_home=c:\jdk1.1.8
set tomcat_home=c:\tomcat\jakarta
6.able to startup tomcat, but in startup new window, it is displaying
ctx(/examples):file not found
c:\tomcat\jakarta\conf\tomcatusers-xml.
on the other hand it is displaying
starting httpconnection handler on 8080 and Ajpconnectionhandler on 8087.
if I type http://localhost:8080,it doesn't showup
where am I going wrong? Please help me

First thing I would do is to chk if tomcat is okay with
jdk1.1.8 IMO, you are better off migrating to atleast jdk1.2.2
regds.

Hi Madhav(lakkapragada)
Thanks for the quick response, As per your instructions I downloaded jdk version 1.2.2.
But after continuous struggle I could find the problem was I had winzip version suitable for windows 3.1.It was truncating all file names of tomcat which are 8 characters and above.I downloaded new version of winzip. now I am able to see much awaited tomcat default page.
regards
snigdha.
