How does PHP compare to JSP, Servlets and PHP ? Where does PHP fit it with these technologies ?

Hi,
As far as i know, PHP is just like JSP wherein u can embed the PHP scripts in HTML. It can have a direct access to databases even simpler than JSP connect to database thru jdbc. I tried connecting MySQL with PHP.
As far as Servlet and PHP is concerned they are little far from the comparison of JSP and PHP.

Correct me if i am wrong.
