Hi,
I have a requirement for the project to know the users Nt/unix User Name.
If somebody access my web page, before request is sent to server I need to pass users system login name. Is it passible in JSP as it is in ASP. (user.name) works only for servers. I want to grab webpage users system login name.
How do I do that in client side? I know it is possible in ASP with request.servervariables("auth_user"),
Please Help.
Thanks

"vetriselvi",
The Java Ranch has thousands of visitors every week, many with surprisingly similar names. To avoid confusion we have a naming convention, described at http://www.javaranch.com/name.jsp . We require names to have at least two words, separated by a space, and strongly recommend that you use your full real name. Please log in with a new name which meets the requirements.
Thanks.

I haven't tested this but I think request.getRemoteUser() would be the equivalent of the ASP request.servervariables("AUTH_USER"). Like request.servervariables("AUTH_USER") an Authorization header must be supplied to see the user.
