Hi there,

Spring has been a much chosen framework for a lot of Java development in the field. Recently a certification program has been started for Spring. As of March this year (2008) it is possible to do the Spring Framework Certification for the Spring 2.5 platform, but (opposed to the Sun certifications) there aren't many resources (or forums) to prepare for this exam.

Could it be an possible to start a "Spring Framework Certification" forum at Javaranch? What are your thoughts? Sounds like a plan? I'd certainly benefit from it (and I reckon so would many other Java ranchers)

Thanks in advance,

Johan

Johan,
We have a Product and Other Certifications forum. How about if you start getting some discussions going in there. If there is enough traffic to warrant a separate forum, that would be a good time to ask again - as there will be something to point to.

Johan, I am not sure if Jeanne meant to move this discussion over to "other certification". I think she meant to kick start some topics about Spring (and certification of) to see if it takes off. If there a lot of people going for the Spring Certification, and they are asking lots of questions related to Spring on the forum, then you can come back here, with data points on why we need a separate Spring Certification forum.

Yes. I meant what Henry said.

Johan: Can you edit your "Should we start a separate "Spring Framework Certification" forum?" post and subject to be just a discussion on the Spring Cert? Right now it's off topic as we wouldn't be discussing forum creation in that forum. Which leaves us with three choices:
1) Lock the thread - which I don't want to do because there is valuable discussion in it.
2) Move the thread to the JavaRanch forum - this doesn't accomplish your goal of spurring discussion.
3) Ask you to edit it.

Jeanne,

Can you check if the other post now's spot on? I'll try to post some specific questions here to see if there are others out there training for the exam as well...

Thanks for your suggestions

Johan

It's good now. Thanks for editing it.

I've read about this kind of thing at the checkout counter. That's where I met this tiny ad:
