This week's book giveaway is in the Testing forum. We're giving away four copies of The Way of the Web Tester: A Beginner's Guide to Automating Tests and have Jonathan Rasmusson on-line! See this thread for details.
It seems that I am always setting up basic data access beans to edit/display databases. The other day I had an idea that seems so sensible, someone must have thought of it already. For those of us who use JSP/servlets, wouldn't it be nice to have a dynamic data bean creator? I'm talking about the "worker bean" that is set up to interface with the JSP, with all the gets/sets. This is the common model, but it's so annoying to set up. The alternative is that a simple app might query the developer, test the desired connection, and create a simple bean on the fly? Or one could write a flexible bean framework that simply reads from a properites file as it is initialized. Again, this concept seems so sensible, someone must have done it already. If not, it seems ripe for an open source project. Does anyone think that this would be a useful tool? Your thoughts/ideas are appreciated.
