generic servlet vs http servlet

can anybody tell me an exact difference between generic and http servlets and which to use when?

The Http classes provide various convenience items / classes / methods that make it easy to deal with browser requests and creating web pages. For example, parsing out parameters from HTML forms as used in doGet or doPost

and when are they used?
