I have been wondering about the multiple options we have in externalizing the HTML display from an application...
Been thinking about using JSP Tags.
But not sure as to the scope.
e.g .a JSP Tag should not repeat what can be done in plain HTML.
Also a JSP Tag should not encompass what can be achieved in a Javabean/servlet/JSP combination.
Not sure which is the better option.
Does anybody have some good recommendation on this...
For instance, if we wish to display a HTML Table...
1. We could paint a HTML table and substitute the dynamic
items using XSL/XML.
2. We could paint a HTML table and substitute the dynamic
items from Javabeans.
3. We could paint a HTML table and use a combination of JSP Tags and JavaBeans for the dynamic items...Again here there is the question of "to what extent we should use the JSP tags".
4. We could generate the HTML from within the JSP Tags and pass all our configurable parameters as attributes to the tag.
Thanks
Krishnan
