Hai Harshad,
To start the tomcat you have to run the batch file c:\tomcat\bin\startup.bat
Then you can have some problems like
a)Out of environment space error which can be solved by the following ways
1)Edit your c:\windows\config.sys to increase the environment
2)Another easy way is to change properties of c:\tomcat\bin\startup.bat by right clicking the icon itself
b)You should have tools.jar file in your classpath usually it will be in JAVA_HOME\lib\tools.jar.To add any classpath the easiest way is
to set all the required class path by editting the batch file c:\tomcat\tomcat.bat(if you use tomcat 3)
and c:\tomcat\catalina.bat(if you use tomcat 4)
Good Luck

Hi
edit your autoexec.bat file in c:
set TOMCAT_HOME=c:\tomcat (set path of tomcat home directory)
set JAVA_HOME=c:/jdk1.2 (set path of java home directory)
set CLASSPATH=c:\tomcat\lib\ant.jar;c:\tomcat\lib\jasper.jar;c:\tomcat\lib\jaxp.jar;c:\tomcat\lib\parser.jar;c:\tomcat\lib\servlet.jar;c:\tomcat\lib\webserver.jar (Set your class path like this)

save the bat file

to start the tomcat

go to tomcat home directory bin then run startup.bat file (c:\tomcat\bin\startup.bat)

If you're running Tomcat from Win98 you must modify the amount of memory Dos allocates for environment variables. To do that, start a new MS-DOS window, click on little MS-DOS icon on top left corner and select Properties. Then choose Memory and go to Initial Environment. Once you there change the value from Auto to 2816.
I hope this helped.

Your .jsp files must be in tomcat\webapps\root directory. No need to setup anything.
